I finally finished the new website using WordPress and a WooThemes template, and made some other changes that will hopefully allow me to make more frequent updates to the content of the site. It definitely seems like it will be a lot easier to make changes to the main structure of the site if I want to add or delete pages and then have to change the navigation menu. Aside from that, the look and feel of the site is a little more sleek, but you’ll notice much of the content is still the same. One change I made was to the Easy Song Library page – I converted all of the Excel spreadsheets to embedded Google document spreadsheets to simplify updating those libraries.
For the next few weeks I’ll be focusing on verifying the code and other behind the scenes stuff to ensure the site remains fairly visible on the web, and then I’ll start blogging more about subjects related to guitar and music in general. In the meantime, be sure to check out the “Classical Rock” pieces I posted to the Free Guitar Lessons page, and give a listen to the songs I recorded on the About Derrick page. I have two more in the works that I hope to finish over the summer that will be very different stylistically from these two.
